Atlanta is both the capital of Georgia and its most populous city. The city was created in 1837 at the convergence of two railroad lines and originally called Terminus. Atlanta was later incorporated in 1847 under its current name.

Today, Atlanta is considered a “world city” and is also a major transportation hub for the United States, as well as for global travel. Some of its most prominent landmarks and sights include Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia Aquarium, and the Fox Theatre.
